Grand Prix 4, commonly known as GP4, was released for the PC on June 21, 2002, and is the last Formula Oneracing simulator released by the developer Geoff Crammond and the MicroProse label. Based on the 2001 Formula One season, GP4 is a huge graphical and physics upgrade from the previous version, Grand Prix 3 which had been released in 2000.

Grand Prix 4 featured a heavily revised graphics engine and updated physics including wet weather driving:
*While it is possible to play the game on a LAN, multiplayer internet gameplay was not possible, due to licensing restrictions. Some individuals managed to circumvent this limitation later using the Free Tunngle Network.
*The locked framerate and CPU-heavy graphics were still a big issue with the series despite a completely revised graphics engine. However, the graphics engine proved to be very scalable, supporting models and textures multiple times the detail of the original shipped materials.
*The mod community faced similar frustrations with the track format and it took fully two years before the track format was truly ’cracked’. The first add-on tracks to be released for the game included Shanghai, Istanbul and Jerez.
*When the game was initially launched, it had a large number of bugs. Many of these were addressed by a patch which was later included with the retail game, though the project was canned when Microprose closed and no further official fixes were forthcoming. To compensate for this some third party programmers addressed some of the remaining problems, and included enhancements which allowed the game to follow the updated rules of the Formula One championship.
Although the game could be considered a relatively modest commercial success the chances of a further entry to the series could be considered slim to none because MicroProse’s parent company Infogrames dissolved the developer shortly after the game’s release. Also, the Sony Computer Entertainment brand’s exclusive licensing deal for Formula One games rules out an update with official stats. An Xbox port of the title had been planned for release in late 2002 before being cancelled in October of that year.[1]Reception[edit]Aggregate scoreAggregatorScoreMetacritic77/100[2]Review scoresPublicationScoreCGM[3]CGW[4]Eurogamer10/10[5]GameSpot8/10[6]GameSpy[7]GameZone8.5/10[8]IGN8.3/10[9]Jeuxvideo.com15/20[10]PC Gamer (US)73%[11]PC Zone86%[12]
Grand Prix 4 received ’generally favorable reviews’ according to the review aggregation website Metacritic.[2]
The game won the award in the Sports category at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards in 2002.[13] It was also nominated for Computer Gaming World’s 2002 ’Sports Game of the Year’ award, which ultimately went to Madden NFL 2003. The editors called Grand Prix 4 ’one of the better racing games in years past’.[14] It was also a runner-up for GameSpot’s annual ’Best Driving Game on PC’ award, losing to Rally Trophy.[15]References[edit]

This article covers two different ways to correctly install GP4.Grand Prix 4 Download Mac Download
IMPORTANT! It is recommended to install (or extract) GP4 to your Home directory, not the default Program Files directory.
IMPORTANT! The first time you play GP4, you will be prompted to configure the graphics and sound. After this is completed, you should exit the game, and then restart the game.Option 1 - Using your original CD
*Install GP4 from your CD or ISO
*Install the Official v9.6 patch
*Replace GP4.exe with the Decrypted No-CD GP4.exe
*Run the game and configure graphics / sound, then exit
*Install GPxPatch by SDI Utilities
*Run the game againOption 2 - Download Grand Prix 4 from GP4 Central
The GP4 Central version of GP4 is already patched with the Official v9.6 patch, the Decrypted No-CD exe and the latest version of GPxPatch. You just extract it, and play!
Remember to restart the game after configuring your graphics and sound (see step 4 above).GP4 gives ’please insert CD’ message
The solution is to mount an ISO image of the GP4 CD using a tool such as WinCDEmu.
On Windows 10 you can simply right-click the .iso and select Mount. How to install tracks in GP4What files make a track?
*.dat [see example] This file is mandatory. It contains the track layout
*.wad [see example] This file is mandatory. It contains the circuit graphics
*.gpi [see example] This file is optional. It contains the menu trackmap
*.bmp [see example] This file is optional. It contains the loading screen
*.ini [see example] This file is optional. It contains information about the track such as the menu track name and the number of laps
*.bin [no example] This file is optional. It contains the dry parts of the track (under bridges / tunnels)
*.anm [no example] This file is optional. It contains the pitcrew animations (so they appear on the correct side of the pitlane)
IMPORTANT! Typically you should not rename the .wad file; it should use one of the original 17 .wad filenames.Grand Prix 4 Download Mac TorrentSteps for installing a track
*Place all of the track files in one folder. Do not place more than one track’s files in the folder [see example].
*Open GPxPatch and select the GPxTrack tab. There are 17 slots, one for each track. Click Edit, and then browse to the .dat file of the track you want to use in that slot.
*Run GP4 and check your track is working.
REMEMBER! You cannot have more than 17 tracks in GP4, because that is how many there were in 2001.
For more information about GPxTrack see the GPxPatch documentation at SDI Utilities.Grand Prix 4 Download Mac Mediafire
